Stairs, running, it’s a pain in the …….knee
Pain, swelling, clicking or discomfort to the knee when sitting or walking down slopes or stairs, are all symptoms of a common disorder known as Patellofemoral Syndrome. Don’t panic, this syndrome is very treatable with education and physiotherapy. A recent review in the British Journal of Sports Medicine (Comparative effectiveness of treatments for patellofemoral pain: a live systematic review with network analysis) states that the wait and see approach is ineffective.
We regularly have patients present to our Leichhardt physiotherapy clinic with this very issue .
The principles of good biomechanics guide treatment and once understood can be applied to all of your existing exercise regimes and day to day activities. Stop putting up with the pain and
get it sorted!
